A lesson learnt

So, another few months of blogging over, and nearly the end of term. Sort of.

I feel that a reflection is needed on this year.
I have enjoyed this year and focussing on the promotional side of fashion-sewing definitely was not for me! However, I think in a way I'm even more confused now then I was at the beginning of the year about what I want to do as my career. I know I want it to be in styling some how, and i have expressed an interest in music video styling and shop stylist. But I keep changing my mind every time I think of something new!! I think this shows I need to get some more work placement in this field of work, to help me decide and make up my mind.

I have realised this year some very important characteristics about myself.
One of the things I've realised I REALLY REALLY need to work on is my organisational skills!!!
Something I have always been appalling at, and really needs to be improved if I want to get the career I've always wanted. With this in mind I have started keeping a folder of magazine rip outs, including poses, photography, hair/make up, styling ideas, magazine layouts and a list of shops and retail websites that I find inspiring.

The second is my attention span. I'm a naturally hyper person, and find it really hard to concentrate on any one thing longer then about 15 mins and need something new to do all the time. This has meant that I have found it quite hard to motivate myself with some of my uni work as I often feel I'm stuck on the same thing for ages. This has taught me though that when a new brief comes about, I really need to just go straight home and work work work, getting all research done quickly but thoroughly so I can move on to the next part and don't become bored and unmotivated. Something I hadn't really realised until this year.

On the plus, I have opened up to different careers that I hadn't considered, have realised where I need to improve and have vaguely worked out how to use photoshop with the trend book project (quite an achievement for a computer paranoid girl!) Until next time!!
