Fashion Capitals

We recently did power point presentations on the fashion capitals of the world, so I thought I would write a bit about my favorite fashion capitals. London is my ultimate fashion capital. I love the creativity and freedom that you get in this city. London has played host to many different style movements such as the "Twiggy" miniskirt era of the 60's in which London was the main player, through to the beatniks, mods, punks and hippies. London style has always been quite rebellious and  clearly originates from the youth and the street culture.
I feel that music is one of the main influences on the way that Londoners dress. In the 70s Vivienne Westwood dressed and was influenced by the Sex Pistols, leading the punk trend.
The 80s saw a lot of Fame and Madonna inspired clothes. Leggings, ra-ra skirts, leg warmers, and rave inspired colours and shapes.

The 90s meant the rise of girl and boy bands on the music scene, predominantly the Spice Girls. This lead to platform trainers, leopard print, mini skirts, crop tops and tracksuit bottoms. A variety of styles.
Recently fashion has gone for an experimental, rock chick boho look which i think ha been heavily influeneced by celebrities such as Kate Moss, who likewise develops her style from the lifestyle that surrounds her-a big musical influence.

London postcodes
Like most major cities the different area postcodes of London have their ow key style.

Hot Shops
When you say London and shopping to most people they will automatically think of Topshop at Oxford Circus. I have to say this is one of my fave shops in London, it is rather fabulous with 3 floors packed of hot fashion trends, particularly the basement
section which holds the individual and quirky labels.

However there are many other shops that London has to offer.

American Apparel-really popular at the moment due to the fashion for leggings and sporty seperates. American apparel offers in my opinion some of the best leggings around, especially the flurescent pink ones with zips all the way up, or the gold patent body con skirt!
